Proud mum Wendi Knibbs had planned a budget for a big party to celebrate and Lewis wants to use the occasion to support Brighton-based charity Rhythmix, which provides workshops providing an array of services through music.
A Midsummer Masquerade Ball is being held at the Norfolk Arms hotel in Arundel on Saturday, July 18, from 7pm to midnight.

Hide AdWendi, of Surrey Court, Surrey Street, said: “I have always had a budget for my son’s 18th birthday and he has requested that we use that towards putting on a ticketed charity dinner dance in our home town, selling tickets to the general public, in addition, to the family and friends who will undoubtedly attend.
“He has asked that instead of buying him an 18th birthday present, they donate the equivalent to the fundraising on the night.
“Lewis has no previous experience organising events and yet he as approached the Norfolk Arms, booked the night, arranged the menus, etc.
“He has approached local businesses for raffle prizes, going door to door, arranged a photographer for the night, approached and arranged Brighton-based band Three Days Straight to play complimentary and designed posters advertising the event.

“As a single mum, I am immensely proud of the selfless hard working man my boy is turning into.”
Lewis loves music and says everything about music touches him, which is why he wanted to support Rythumix.
He explained: “Music can transform our mood. As children, we all remember the music we grew up to and how it made us feel at that time.

“It’s not about the end performance, it’s about the journey they go on to get there.
“They also support young people and people with dementia in hospitals, healthcare settings and hospices by providing them opportunities to interact with music to improve their care.
“The aim is to give confidence, self belief, friendship, respect, and for these qualities to be a game changer in a child’s journey to adulthood.”
