Hawth circus events offer wild and wacky entertainment this summer

A fun-packed weekend of workshops, shows and games is set to entertain and enthrall all, from the already initiated to absolute beginners, as part of Crawley Circus Festival. This year’s theme is ‘Post Apocalyptic’ so those coming along are invited to dress up for the occasion. People can visit the venue for a day or take advantage of a fully inclusive weekend ticket. The weekend ticket includes camping and all the workshops and shows (including Kettle of Fish). It also means circus fans won’t miss any of the fun. Children under six , accompanying weekend ticket holders, can get in for free (please request under-six tickets at time of booking). On Saturday, August 20 (7pm), Kettle Of Fish returns to The Hawth. Now in its 23rd year the festival presents an old style variety cabaret show featuring the best of human circus. This wild and wacky production offers: lightworks from Feeding The Fish, ping pong juggling and card manipulation with Rod Laver, hula hoop and skipping skills from Jess Love and incredible contortions from Britain’s bendiest woman, Claudia Hughes. The astonishing Simon Riccio also aims to leave your head spinning with the German Wheel, while the amazing Kundrotas Brothers come to Crawley direct from Lithuania. All this is hosted by the internationally acclaimed comedian and juggler Jon Udry. Weekend tickets cost £32 (children £18). Earlybird tickets purchased before August 1 cost £27 (children £15). Summer School Those who want more circus-themed fun can join the Circuswurx Summer School in the Hawth studio from Monday to Friday, August 1-5 (4pm). This unique, creative course is aimed at 8 to 16 year olds who want to learn juggling, stiltwalking, unicycling and balloon modelling. The week-long event ends with a show for friends and family on the Friday afternoon. Bring a packed lunch and plenty of drink. Comfortable clothes and trainers should be worn.
