There’s no place like home for Eastbourne Stagers who return to the Devonshire Park Theatre for a 20th consecutive year this September with The Wizard of Oz.
Since 1993 Eastbourne Stagers have performed a variety of famous musicals such as Carousel, Anything Goes and Annie, as well as more modern productions such as Our House and High School Musical and has been a great platform for local youngsters to showcase their talents.
This year that platform is in the shape of The Wizard of Oz, a magical tale with iconic characters and timeless songs such as Ding Dong the Witch is Dead, If I Only Had a Brain and Somewhere Over the Rainbow.
The most famous character Dorothy (Hannah Turner) is at the centre of the story after a tornado sends her and her house to Munchkin land.
Under the guidance of Glinda, the Good Witch (chloe Hurst) and the hindrance of the Wicked Witch of the West she tries to find her way to the Emerald City to see the Wizard of Oz to take her home to Kansas.
With a host of other songs, many more colourful characters and dancing a-plenty The Wizard of Oz opens on Tuesday, September 11 and runs nightly until Saturday, September 14, with a 2.30pm Saturday matinee.
