Review: Cinderella at White Rock Theatre, Hastings, till Jan 2 - by Annemarie Field

I NEVER thought I would see the day when I would be singing along with Jimmy Osmond to Puppy Love, Long Haired Lover from Liverpool and Crazy Horses.

But that’s something else I can tick off my ‘to do’ list thanks to the White Rock’s Christmas pantomime Cinderella.

The lovable singer plays the lead role of Buttons - much to the delight of not only the youngsters who may have seen him on I’m a Celebrity, but to the mums and grandmothers who were among his army of fans oh so many years ago.

As you would expect, Osmond is amazing in the show which follows the traditional story of Cinderella and is packed with comedy, beautiful costumes, stunning sets and even live animals which transport Cinders, played by Shinead Byrne, to the ball.

Ugly Sisters Trinny and Susannah, alias Ben Stock and Gareth Wilde, are fantastically foul and comical but Graham Sherman, as Baron Hardup, steals the show with his one liners, near-the-knuckle banter and getting the audience involved.

The show runs until Sunday, January 2, with matinee and evening performances and with ticket prices starting at £13, Cinderella is a great trip out for all the family - not to mention those who want to sing along to a medley of Osmond hits!
