SHAKESPEARE’S Globe presents an open-air version of Hamlet at Herstmonceux Castle from July 1-3.
The world-renowned Globe Theatre visits the castle each year, and this year they come to perform Hamlet with its political intrigue, sexual obsession, violent action and wild humour.
Shakespeare and his company of actors toured inns, town halls and estates all over the country before they finally settled in at the Globe, and like them, today’s actors will be leaving their London home to emulate the experience of the Elizabethan players and recreate the excitement and vivacity of a travelling performance that is suitable for all ages.
Bring rugs, cushions, low backed chairs and picnics if desired. Performance times are at 7pm on Friday and Saturday and 4.30pm on Sunday, gates open 90 minutes before curtain up.
Tickets cost £17.50 (£12 concessions).
