Two innovative plays will be presented at the Under Ground Theatre on October 7 and 8 at 7.30pm
Nerve and Jekyll & Hyde are original one act plays set within the same block of flats. Though distinct from one another the plays are companion pieces, featuring the same cast of four actors.
Jekyll & Hyde sees brilliant surgeon Ellie Jekyll feeling the strain of caring for her terminally ill brother, Simon.
Luckily, a newfound friendship with her neighbour, Abigail Hyde, proves to be just what the doctor ordered.
However, when a young girl dies unexpectedly during surgery, Jekyll’s honourable name is tarnished, and her world begins to unravel.
Inspired by the novella by Robert Louis Stevenson, this fast paced drama blurs the lines between good and evil, insane imaginings and real life monsters. Nerve is about Sam who, inspired by his bold, decisive approach to life, edges closer to her magnetic new housemate Danny. But after a violent dispute with their neighbour she is left struggling to locate her moral centre. Her best friend, Tess, is overwhelmed by anxiety as she approaches the twenty-fourth week of her pregnancy; and local policeman Greg is too lost trying to rekindle his relationship with his ex-wife to notice that their neighbour from Flat B is missing.
Reverend Productions is a company dedicated to writing and touring new work for the theatre. Tickets cost £14 from UGT or from Eastbourne Tourist Information.
