MR BENN visits the Congress Theatre this month (June 10-11) to celebrate his 40th anniversary.
From the creators of The Gruffalo and Room On The Broom stage shows, the magical, musical production of Mr Benn celebrates the 40th anniversary of David McKee’s much-loved TV series. A favourite among children in the 70s, Mr Benn was voted sixth in the 2001 Channel 4 poll, 100 Greatest Kids’ TV Shows and a new episode was aired in 2005.
Mr Benn, an ordinary man who lives in an ordinary street, gets a surprise when an envelope lands with a thud on his doormat. It’s an invitation. To a fancy dress party.
Mr Benn sets off to look for a costume and finds himself drawn to a small shop he’s never noticed before. Inside there’s a spaceman costume, a diver, a wizard, a chef, a knight – and many more.
As if by magic, the shopkeeper appears and shows Mr Benn into the changing room. But this is no ordinary changing room – it contains a special door that leads to adventures!
Mr Benn is at the Congress Theatre, on Friday June 10 (1.30pm) and Saturday, June 11 (10.30am & 1.30pm) - tickets £10, school groups 10+ £8.50 (one teacher free in every 10 students). Box Office on 01323 412000 or book at www.eastbournetheatres.co.uk
