For the past six months members of Herstmonceux Amateur Theatrical Society have been rehearsing hard for their next musical production Barnum. Auditions were held back in May and since then rehearsals have been held three or four days a week for what is probably the biggest musical production the group has put on.
Chris Thompson commented: “The direction and choreography is huge, due to the large range of circus skills included in what is a very busy, buzzy show... we are just seeing the scenery arrive at the hall and the props are now ready . Our costume ladies are running around frantically trying to put together costumes that fit and look lovely. The sound and lighting technicians have had meetings to arrange what we call the get in. The cast have learnt the words, they have learnt the dance - the problem now is putting the whole lot together...”
The show is based on the life of P T Barnum, originally in the West End with Michael Crawford, and full of colour, vibrance, music and humour.
It will be at Herstmonceux Village hall from November 4-7 from 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2.30pm.
HATS hope everyone will come to see all the cast doing their circus skills such as walking on stilts and promise a truly spectacular show.
