The Rattonians are back at The Congress Theatre from Wednesday, April 1 to Saturday, April 4, with the new musical Comedy, The Addams Family.

The show is based upon The Addams Family characters created by Charles Addams in his single-panel gag cartoons, which depict a ghoulish American family with an affinity for all things macabre.

Numerous film and television adaptations of Addams’ cartoons exist, but the musical is based upon the cartoons rather than the television and film characters.

The show tells the story of Wednesday Addams (Laura Sivers) coming of age and breaking the news to her parents Gomez (James Bell) and Morticia (Heather Bilton) that she wants to marry the “normal” Lucas – played by Gareth Brighton.

The Addams family invite Lucas’s parents (Steve Clarke and Jane James) to dinner to meet them and find out more about them. Wednesday asks them to be as ‘normal’ as possible and not to scare them off.

The rest of the family – Uncle Fester (James Hookway) Grandma (Melanie Adams) are asked to play along but Wednesday’s brother Pudgsley (Ben Williamson) is not keen on losing his sister to a man. Who will torture him now?

The show is full of humour with these much loved characters including the butler Lurch played by Damon Willer.

The show is directed by Mark Adams, assistant director, Alex Adams, Musical Director Carl Greenwood and Choreographer Jan Lynton.

Tickets, from £13.50, are available from the Congress Theatre box office 01323 412000.
