Directed by Ellen Kent, this traditionally staged new production of Carmen, set in Seville and reflecting a Goya painting, with fountains, flowers, orange trees and even a rescue donkey, guarantees an evening of passion and romance.
It stars international mezzo soprano Nadia Stoianova, whose portrayals of Carmen have won rapturous reviews.
The production also features the full Chisinau National Philharmonic orchestra and chorus.
Carmen features some of the most evocative and best-loved melodies in opera, including perhaps the best-known baritone aria of all; The Toreador’s Song.
Sung in French with English subtitles.
Carmen is at The Congress Theatre on Saturday, February 9, 7.30pm, for one night only.
