A ROMANTIC musical comedy is to have its world premiere in Eastbourne - with a fully professional London cast and a director with West End experience.

Eastbourne is home to both the writer and composer of Real Love - which will be at the town’s Under Ground Theatre for two performances on July 23 (2.30pm and 7.30pm).

Real Love tells the story of a lonely girl, living with her bitter mother, who finds love, loses love, and eventually finds love again.

It was written by John Collings, whose play Barabbas won the 2009 Steyning Festival playwriting competition, judged by Sir Arnold Wesker.

The music is the work of Darren Hughes, who was the runner up in a 2008 world-wide Song of the Year competition.

Real Love is being staged at the Under Ground Theatre to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Everyone involved is working without payment – including director Bronwen Carr, whose CV includes both The Night of the Iguana and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at the Lyric Theatre.

Tickets cost £7, call 640955.
