Eastbourne’s Soul Division release their debut EP Devoted on Saturday, July 12, at a launch party at Chin Chin, Grove Road, which includes support from local up-and-coming artists. Entry is free and the fun starts at 7pm.
A spokesman for Soul Division said: “Eastbourne was our first choice because we wanted to highlight the variety of home-bred talent here, and bring to the forefront Eastbourne’s rich cultural heritage.
“We want to support the growing music scene and promote the town as a vibrant, happening place.”
Soul Division was birthed out of a local gospel choir in 2009 aiming to write uplifting music with a positive message.
Originally from Eastbourne, singer Hayden Wolfe and multi-instrumentalist Nathan Whitington spent time on the live music circuit before embarking on their first writing project.
Devoted was recorded and mixed in Eastbourne and Newcastle and draws heavily on the group’s life experiences.
The soulful melodic sound is the result of combining diverse influences such as Stevie Wonder, Boyz II Men and Marvin Gaye.
“We aim to create feel-good music - a positive influence in a world where love often seems hidden and is hard to come by,” added the spokesman.
