The Sussex Song Makers will appear at St Mary’s Church, Old Town On July 18 at 3pm, as part of The Eastbourne Festival.
This recently formed ensemble is already enjoying success presenting a mixture of wonderful ensembles, embellished with poetry that reflects the music.
Directed by acclaimed musician Elizabeth Muir-Lewis, with poetry read by Ann Gregory, this will be an afternoon of entertaining music.
The event features music from John Dowland in the first half, one of the 14th Centurie’s greatest composers and poets, whose music (ensembles as well as solos) show his range in both the arts. The program will also include amusing and familiar music, with poems by Wordsworth, Edward Lyons, and a couple of surprises.
Tea will be served in the interval. Entry to this great afternoon event is free.
