THE LIANE Carroll quartet will be performing at the Under Ground Theatre on July 20 (8pm).
Liane is the only jazz musician ever to win two BBC Jazz Awards in the same year and the combination of an engaging personality and innately bluesy no-holds-barred style guarantees critical acclaim every time she performs.
She has a repertoire that embraces a breadth of material: from tender ballads to jazz standards, and from soulful blues to swinging up-tempo numbers.
Sharing the UGT stage will be husband Roger Carey (electric bass), Russell Field (drums) and James McMillan (trumpet). Since 1993, Liane has appeared as a headline act at the legendary Ronnie Scott’s Club, where she has also recorded two live CDs for their Jazz House label.
She continues to be a regular at the celebrated 606 Club, in Chelsea. And she’s performed in New York to rapturous audiences at Dizzy’s Jazz Club at the Lincoln Center, and the Rochester Jazz Festival.
Tickets cost £12, buy them online at www.undergroundtheatre.org.uk ; or via Oxboffice on 0845 680 1926; or from Eastbourne Tourist Information Centre; or on the door.
