Rehearsals are over as Long Man Morris Men launch their spring season of dance and Olde English festivity.
They will be taking some of that festive feeling to France in mid-May since the city council of Orléans has invited these Eastbourne Morris men to dance for them.
The first gig will be on Good Friday, April 14, at lunchtime at The Tiger Inn, East Dean, followed by an appearance on Easter Monday at Alfriston Market Cross at 1pm and 2.30pm. The following weekend will see them back at The Tiger on St George’s Day, Sunday April 23, again at 12.30pm then dancing at dawn on the foot of the Long Man of Wilmington at 5.30am on Monday Bank Holiday, May 1 with, on the same day, a day of dance at the Lewes Garland Day in Lewes Town Centre. Subsequently they will perform at the Blackboys Inn near Uckfield on Friday May 5 at 8pm before heading off to Orléans for Les Fêtes de Jeanne d’Arc 2017.
