Chicago - at the Congress Theatre

Chicago - at the Congress Theatre

“MURDER, greed, corruption, exploitation, adultery and treachery – all those things we hold near and dear to our hearts.”

Chicago will be strutting its stuff at the Congress Theatre from June 4-9 with a cast including Stefan Booth as Billy Flynn, Ali Bastian as Roxie Hart, Tupele Dorgu as Velma Kelly and Bernie Nolan as Mama Morton.

Based on real life events back in the roaring 1920s, nightclub singer Roxie Hart shoots her lover and along with Cell Block rival, double-murderess Velma Kelly, they fight to keep from death row with the help of smooth talking lawyer, Billy Flynn.

Created by the musical theatre talents of John Kander, Fred Ebb and legendary choreographer Bob Fosse, Chicago’s sassy score includes All That Jazz and Razzle Dazzle.

Starring as the merry murderess, Roxie Hart, Ali Bastian has been a regular fixture on British television screens for over nine years with long-running roles including Becca in Hollyoaks and Sally Armstrong in The Bill.

Ali is probably best known for reaching the semi-finals in the 2009 series of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing which lead to stage appearances in Burn The Floor and Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour.

Joining Ali is Stefan Booth, recently seen playing Tanya’s husband Greg Jessop in EastEnders, and who starred in the Eastbourne 2008 pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

The cast also includes Tupele Dorgu, best known as Kelly Crabtree in Coronation Street, and The Nolans lead singer Bernie Nolan as Mama Morton.

Evening performances are at 7.30pm from Monday to Friday, with a Thursday matinee at 2.30pm and Saturday performances at 5pm and 8pm.

Tickets cost from £12-£35, call 412000.
