Willingdon six-a-side team

12 Primary School football teams from Eastbourne and surrounding area enjoyed a fun packed day of football with the dream of playing at Wembley Stadium as the grand prize.

Teams that played were from Shinewater, Tollgate, Heron Park, Ocklynge, Parkside, West Rise, Pevensey & West Ham, Willingdon, Orchard, Cross In Hand, Bourne and Annecy.

The games were six-a-side matches (squads of 8). All the games were very closely fought and some great football was on shown throughout the day.

Four schools came through the group stages to compete in the semi finals.

Willingdon were drawn against Tollgate and Orchard drawn against Cross In Hand. Tollgate and Orchard won their respective games and then competed in a very entertaining and close fought final where Orchard school were the victors with a 2-0 scoreline.

They will now go on to play the winners from the other Sussex Tournaments held, with the winners of that representing Brighton & Hove Albion and playing at Reading F.C against all the other Southern area championship teams.
