Eastbourne’s young divers jumped into action in the first ever competition at the Sovereign Centre last weekend.

The competition was split into two age groups of U11 boys and girls and 11-16 boys and girls.

Tony Gaskell organised the event which was contested to Amateur Swimming Association and FINA, the international governing body of diving rules. All divers were judged on stance, take-off, dive and entry.

Gaskell said, “There was a great turn-out and the event was well-supported.

“We had compeitiors as young as six and there was a good standard of diving throughout the age groups, which was very pleasing.

“Thanks to all for their hard work and help behind the scenes.”
