Polegate Under-15 Girls celebrated like Olympic sprinting hero Usain Bolt after they triumphed in a six-a-side tournament held at Jarvis Brook.

Despite having no substitutes to call upon, the girls battled through the group stages.

One of their players then had to leave before the end leaving the girls a player short.

Undeterred, Polegate remained focused and in a phenomenal display of teamwork the girls didn’t lose a game all day and only conceded one goal.

An achievement of Olympic proportions in 2012.

Coached by Mark Smallwood, it was Polegate’s second tournament win,

He said, “This was a truly impressive result from the girls who played with their usual good humour coupled with a steely determination.”
