No-1 seed Bennett races to victory in the Cheltenham Cup
EASTBOURNE’S Jack Bennett tasted success after winning the Junior Banded Event at Cheltenham.
Bennett, who was seeded first for the event, defeated another Sussex boy, Daniel Barna, in the final to claim the Cheltenham 4 Star competition.
Bennett has only recently returned from a training camp in Belgium and will now travel to Sheffield for an International Youth Squad training camp as he looks to continue his success.
Jack was unlucky not to claim a second title at Cheltenham, narrowly losing the final of the U15 open to Luke Saville of Kent.
Having been seeded number two in this event, he lost a thrilling final to Saville who had seen off top seed Daniel Lawrence in the semi-finals.
His impressive performances have enabled Jack to rise to number four in the national rankings for his age group and number 16 in the U18 rankings.
This has given Jack the opportunity to compete in the upcoming junior and cadet masters tournaments. There was nearly success for younger brother Josh Bennett, who also suffered defeat at the hands of Saville, this time in the semi-finals of the U13 event at Cheltenham.
