Nina, 16, selected for GB skate hockey team

EASTBOURNE Edge player Nina Brown has been selected to play in line Skate Hockey for the GB women’s team at the AAU Junior Olympics in California in July.

Nina attended an open trial in Sheffield in November and was invited back for a second trial in late January, where she was delighted to hear she had been selected for the GB Puck Skate Hockey Women’s team.

Nina, aged 16, who is in Year 11 at Cavendish School started playing skate hockey when she was in Year 5 at Ocklynge Junior School.

She has played at all the age levels for Eastbourne Edge and last year was the assistant captain of the Eastbourne Edge U19 team which finished fourth at the British Skate Hockey national championships.

Nina would very much appreciate hearing from any companies or organisations that might be able to help with the cost of the trip so she can take up the place and join 11 other players to travel to California for ten days to represent Great Britain at the AAU Junior Olympics.

Eastbourne Edge train at Cavendish Sports Centre on Eldon Road and new players are always welcome.

There is a new starters and U8s session on Saturday mornings 8.:50am-10.15am which is followed by a session for established Under 13 players.

Older players train on Tuesday and Friday evening from 5pm to 6:30pm. Further details are on the website www.eastbourne-edge.co.uk

The club has recently started a new U19 & Seniors session on Fridays, 6.30pm to 7.30pm and is hoping to recruit a few more senior players to play for Eastbourne Edge in the South East Skate Hockey league in Hastings.
