Landslide victory has young swimmers eyeing promotion

Eastbourne Swimming Club

Eastbourne Swimming Club

Young members of Eastbourne Swimming Club have promotion to Division one clearly in their sights after a second landslide Sussex League Victory.

A 27 strong team took on squads from Hailsham and Chichester and had no trouble taking the lead right from the start when Alice Greenland and Lauren Manson took first and second in the 100m IM.

The U14 Medlay Relay teams and the U16 Freestyle Relay teams continued the success with easy wins over their rivals and at the halfway mark the team found themselves leading by 60 points.

With the team’s confidence growing all the time there were more first places from Harriet Farrington, Hannah Lindsay , Charlie Edwards, Thivya Kularajan , Sean Wright, Josh Lemon, Lizzie Wright and Adrian Wright and the final race of the evening, the Squadron Relay, saw Eastbourne come home in first with a three second lead.

This was a another brilliant performance by the Eastbourne Team and one that Team Gala first timers- Millie Vieweg and Joshua Ross-Page will no doubt remember for a long time.

Other members of the squad were Reece Bishop, Conor Day, Jessica Giddins, Lauren Goldsmith, James Grimmond, Thomas Jackson, Jack Lindsay, Hannah O’Sullivan, Sarah Quinn, Kerris Senior, Charlotte Shooter-Harris, Frances Smoker, Matt Tyler, Matthew Wilson and Ian Woodward.
