Stubborn Gamble stays at the crease for East Dean

Isfield 147-7 East Dean 148-4

Two superb run-outs and a patient half-century from Neil Gamble helped East Dean record victory against Isfield in the East Sussex League division four.

On a dry wicket with little for the seamers Terry Preston (16-2-37-1) and John daubney(7-3-11-0) bowled good lines to restrict Isfield. Isfield skipper J Fellows was run-out at the non-strikers end from deep point by Richard Abson Bennett.

Saunders (61) remained at the crease but a run-out from Campbell at extra cover dismissed (Thornicroft 26). Tight bowling from Abson Bennett (2-32) saw Isfield finish on 147-7.

East Dean’s Andrew Edwards hit a quickfire 14 while Gamble rode his luck a couple of times but carried his bat for 58. Alex Rimmer provided much need impetus with a rapid 35, including four sixes and East Dean got home in the 39th over.
