EDWARD Kennett will ride at No 1 for the Eastbourne Eagles on Saturday when they face Wolverhampton at Arlington.

He takes a guest booking to replace Joonas Kylmakorpi who is making good progress as he recovers from injuries sustained in a heat one crash at King’s Lynn last month.

Kennett, a former Eagle now riding for Coventry, learned his trade at the Sussex track before being transferred to the Midlands side in 2009.

The Lifestyle Eagles are keen to get back to winning ways after suffering two defeats on Good Friday against Lakeside.

Getting out of the starts has been a problem for the team this year and one that team manager Trevor Geer is focusing on.

He said said: “Even in the two matches we have won, we have generally been poor out of the starts and not really got going until five or six races into the meetings.

“All the boys are very concerned and they are working on it.”

Eastbourne are now starting a busy spell with home and away matches against both Wolverhampton and Peterborough coming in quick succession.

Geer said: “I am targeting wins in all these matches. We traditionally do well at Wolves.

“Peterborough used to be something of a bogy track for us but now all the lads seem to like it.”

On Monday, at Wolverhampton, Danny King from Birmingham will be guest replacement for Kylmakorpi.

Geer hopes Kylmakorpi will be back riding for the Eagles in May.
