Eagles’ collection brings £2,800
for Rico family
Speedway fans and riders stood in silence ahead of Eagles’ Elite League meeting against Swindon Robins at Arlington Stadium on Saturday night.
Richardson (pictured) rode for both clubs during a distinguished career.
The popular rider died aged 33 while racing for Polish side PGE Marma Rzeszow against Bertard Sparta Wroclaw in the Polish League.
Richardson suffered serious leg injuries, internal bleeding and breathing difficulties and died in hospital after falling from his bike and hitting a fence post.
A collection around the packed terraces at Arlington during Saturday’s meeting raised more than £2,800 for Richardson’s family.
