Superb 93 from Grimes is icing on the cake for Glastonbury

Glastonbury B, this season’s division one champions, cemented their top of the table position with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Bollards.

Martin Holmes, Matt Bray, Ben Dain, Spencer Dain along with this week top break maker Paul Grimes, a superb 93, secured the victory for the champions.

Dolphin A recorded a 5-0 whitewash of Polegate Legion B with wins from, Mark Crotty, Pete Buckland, Paul Binks, Phil White and Nik Driver.

This overwhelming victory by last season’s champions condemned the Polegate Legion B into last place in the division and relegation into division two next season.

Hailsham MI C secured the third place with a 4-1 away victory over mid table Eastbourne Workingmens Club A.

Matt Barnes for the HMI C recorded a 40 break during his 80-22 win over Trevor Binks.

Martin Wright the top Workers player defeated Ash Bull on the black 61-54 for the solitary Workers A win.

Seaford Con Club, in fourth place, won a close contest against midtable HMI Rutherfords 4-1. Damien Hilder defeated Lou Marshall 63-16 for the only Rutherfords win.

Glastonbury C, in fifth, were the visitors at the Angling Club to play the A team.

The Glastonbury C team won the opening three frames via the cues of Luke Herring, Bruce Meeks and Ross Mabbott.

Dave Pain along with Alan Carvil won frames four and five to secure the two home points for the Angling A team.

The Angling A team will need to record a victory in their last match of the season to avoid possible relegation.

Hailsham MI A, in mid table, came up against Nuthouse B who are also in danger of relegation. Nuthouse pulled off a saving 3-2 away win to keep their hopes alive.

Barry Pugh, Dave Lee, and Pete Roberts had the Nuthouse victories. Dan Carr and a last frame walkover point for Scott McLean recorded the points for HMI A.

The three teams facing relegation are Nuthouse B 49 points, Angling Club A 48 points and Bollards 46 points.Nuthouse B have completed their season with a bye week, Angling A will face HMI C away and Bollards will be at home against HMI A.

Polegate Legion A recorded a 4-1 home win against Glastonbury F. Legion’s wins from Paul Pickett, Shaun Murphy, Mark Saunders, and Gary Jones, who recorded a 44 break during his 75-8 victory over Colin Sargent.

The Glastonbury F captain Andy Simpson had the sole win for the visitors 58-10 against Simon Sharp in the first frame.

Nuthouse A still hold the top spot in division two following a 4-1 home win over Hailsham MI E. Ian Townsend, Glen Williams, Martin Noakes & Marcel Compton recorded the winning frames for the leaders.
