Memorial keep the pressure on Glastonbury

Hailsham Memorial Institute C Team consolidated their position in second place in division one of the Eastbourne and District Snooker League with a 3-2 home victory over six time champions Dolphin A.

Robin Thomas the HMI C skipper defeated his opposing skipper Peter Buckland 68-29 in the opening frame.

Ashley Bull continued the HMI C winning start with a 60-18 win over Nik Diver. Ashley pocketed a 50-break in the process.

Dolphin got going with wins from Neil Sivyer 50-26 over Jack Lander and Paul Binks 62-56 against Peter Watson.

Lee Matthews’ 57-19 against Phil White won the deciding frame. Division one leaders Glastonbury Snooker Club B team cemented their position as leaders of division one with a 4-1 home victory against Nuthouse B.

Paul Grimes recorded a 44 break in his 71-17 win over Barry Pugh in the first frame, Matt Bray, Martin Wright and Spencer Dain completed the team victory. Gary Callingham, the Nuthouse B captain, outpointed Martin Holmes 61-15 for the solitary away victory.

The Derby match between Glastonbury A & C teams went the way of the C Team 3-2.

Ross Mabbott, Bruce Meeks (47 break) and Luke Herring recorded the C team’s winning frames.

Grant Martins and Brad Soper replied for the A team.

Seaford Con Club travelled to the Eastbourne Fishermens Club to face the Meads A Team. They went down 4-1 with Kevin Walbrin, Mark James (52 break) Paul Denness and Gavin Pierce recording the Meads A winning frames. Mick Walsh outpointed Dave Field 63-30 for the solitary Con Club point.

Fishermens Club E team continued their losing sequence with a 3-2 home loss against Glastonbury F.
