Chasing pack close the gap on leaders Glastonbury

It was the turn of other teams to try and close the gap Snooker League division one leaders Glastonbury B this week as the leaders had a bye.

The two main teams chasing had good results with both Dolphin A and Hailsham MI C winning 4-1. Dolphin A were playing HMI A with Paul Binks, Nik Driver, Pete Buckland and Phil White being victorious.

Phil cemented his victory with a 42 break. The consolation frame was taken for HMI A by Mark Sciancalepore beating Mark Crotty 61-52.

Meanwhile HMI C faced Glastonbury C and put up a solid performance with Jack Lander, Matt Barnes and Ashley Bull not only winning their frames but each achieving breaks over 40. Mick Compton was Glastonbury B’s only ray of sunshine as he beat Pete Watson 61-34.

That means both teams have closed the gap to the leaders to three points but Glastonbury B have a game in hand however they have to play each other in the next set of fixtures.

Elsewhere HMI Rutherfords beat Glastonbury F by 3-2 with wins for Paul White, Dave Relf and Damien Hilder.

This was after their opponents took a two frame lead with wins for Mike Goodwin and Andy Simpson.

Nuthouse B continued their fight for survival in Division one with a 3-2 win against Angling Club A with Gary Callingham, Peter Roberts and Dave Lee securing the points.

Richard Anderson and Peter Lavington were the winners for Angling Club A. Fellow strugglers Bollards continued their fight for ponts with a 4-1 loss to EWMC A with wins for Cyril Miles, Chris Bearne, Martin Wright and Trevor Binks who had an epic battle with Chris Lock of Bollards.

Chris was in front for much of the frame but was caught out with some unfortunate in off’s and lost the frame on the black. Mike Ashcroft was the only winner against Brian Bearne.

In the mid table match Meads A came away victorious against Polegate RBL A with a 3-2 win.

Kevin Walbrin, Paul Denness and Dave Field continued the teams good form with wins for Ian Davis and Shaun Murphy for Polegate RBL A.
