Eatbourne Cricket captain Mark Tomsett is hoping to see a reaction from his players for the weekend’s double-header with Horsham and Sussex Development.
His side collapsed when they looked on course for victory at Bexhill last weekend.
At 190-3, chasing a declared target of 239, they lost wickets at an alarming rate to condemn them to defeat and, while their recent good form has led them to the brink of Premier Legaue safety, he expects better this weekend and warned his players against complacency
“It was a disappointing weekend for us,” Tomsett said.
“There are times when I’m a pretty chilled out captain but I had a few stern words after the game.”
“I think that can sometimes help bring players back down to earth.
“It’s easy just to brush it under the carpet but all the best teams confront their problems.
“I’ll be keen this weekend to see the characters that want to put it right.”
Eastbourne host fourth-placed Horsham on Saturday before welcoming fifth-placed Sussex Development the following day.
Tomsett said he would love the maximum 60 points but admits a return of 30 or 40 would be a good result. They lost to Horsham in the return fixture and are yet to face Sussex.
