Skipper Gamble injured in East Dean victory

East Dean captain Neil Gamble was carried away in an ambulance as his side retained top spot in Division Four with victory over Ringmer II.

Gamble was smacked in the face with the ball while fielding at silly-mid-off as East Dean tried to close out the game.

The blow broke the skipper’s nose and required stitches. He is expected to be out of action for a month.

Dean recorded 208-8 declared with Gamble (52) and Andy Edwards (40).

Richard Abson Bennett took 4-29 as Rinmger finished on 91 all-out. Geoff Campbell took the crucial last wicket.
