Rowing champ Ali inspires Academy
Ali McKlean
The Eastbourne Sport Academy was honoured to welcome Paralympic Medallist Ali McKean.
Currently Ali is a Sky Sports Living for Sport Ambassador, which is an initiative using sports stars and sport skills to improve the lives of and educate young people about the key values for success.
20 BTEC PE students were lucky to be involved in this special day and were very excited to meet a Paralympic Medallist and World Rowing Champion.
On the day Ali explained his achievements in rowing and his very inspirational life story.
He then discussed the six key values and their importance in your education, sporting career and life choices.
This enabled the pupils to take a reflective view about themselves and evaluate areas they want to develop.
Ali then led the group through some practical team building games, a written evaluation and finished with a practical session.
Bok Rahman said “It was inspirational to meet someone who has achieved what Ali has in his life”.
Teacher Mr Wilkinson said “I hope the students have all learnt from today’s visit and can take away skills that will help them in their futures”
