EASTBOURNE cricketer Callum Jackson has recently taken part in an international tour in India with the England Under-17 cricket squad.
Wicketkeeper-batsman Jackson, who impressed with the bat including a 97 run haul in Pune, had a busy schedule in the cities of Pune and Mumbai competing against local teams.
Callum said, “The teams we played in India were very strong and as a result we won three out of the eight games.”
The youngster, who has also toured in South Africa, continues his rise in English cricket having developed through the academy ranks at Eastbourne Cricket Club and Sussex County Cricket Club.
Jackson is keen to keep his future ambitions firmly on the field, “I am hoping to get a professional cricket contract with Sussex CCC and to continue to play for the England Youth teams and to one day break into the senior sides.”
EASTBOURNE’S Ben Brown has been selected by Sussex County Cricket Club for their pre-season tour of Dubai.
The ex-England under-19 international, who lives in Eastbourne, is part of a 15-man playing squad looking to sufficiently prepare for the forthcoming season.
Michael Yardy will be leading the side, which flew out to the UAE on Tuesday, and will play initially in the Emirates Airlines Twenty20 2012 Tournament, alongside Durham Dynamos, Lancashire Lightning and an MCC XI with the matches taking place at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai.
The tour’s primary objective though will be preparing the squad for four-day cricket with a programme of practise sessions planned, culminating in a two-day game against Durham.
