We’ve nothing to lose ahead of Folkestone clash - Stanley

Manager Roger Stanley stated Eastbourne Rugby Club have ‘nothing to lose’ when they face third placed Folkestone this weekend.

Folkestone thrashed Eastbourne 52-17 in October but Stanely insisted the Bourne are a stronger side now and hope they can produce a less humiliating result this time round.

Eastbourne have only won one game out of 15 so far this season and are second from bottom in the London South East Three division.

However, they will want to repeat the impressive fight they put up against league leaders Crowborough last Saturday. When asked if Eastbourne could keep up their form Stanley said, “We hope so, we hope it’s part of a trend rather than a one off and we can maintain it.”

Eastbourne have little to look forward to for the rest of the season as relegation looks a near-certainty. Stanley said, “My basic hope is that the team and the players keep on improving and then hopefully we might get a few more wins.”

The Bourne will be missing three key players when they travel to the New Burlington on Saturday.

Wingman Will Bettles is out with an injury while Josh Imich is unavailable as he will be playing for Sussex. Imich’s absence has left Stanley concerned the team’s prop set-up will be a little light.

Fly-half James Coulthard is also unavailable. Stanley commented on the disappointing news, saying, “When you lose a really class player you lose a lot from your team.”
