That 94-0 continues to haunt Eastbourne

Eastbourne Rugby Club will be looking to redeem themselves from the 94-0 thumping they received earlier this season when they face Crowborough again this weekend.

Crowborough, who currently sit at the top of the table, will prove a hard test for Roger Stanley’s men, who are all but relegated following a 34-7 defeat to Bromley two weeks ago.

Manager Stanley said, “There are rays of hope but I don’t think we’ll get out of the bottom three now.

“Even if we win every match, it’ll still be a tough ask.

“Crowborough are a very good side. They hammered us last time round but, up until the Bromley match, we’ve been playing well.”

With not much left to fight for this season, Stanley looks upon the remaining fixtures as a chance to develop his team and see out the season as strongly as possible.

“Most of the current players are young and inexperienced. That was probably part of our undoing this season, but they have all done well and they’re still learning with every match.

“It’ll be a shame to drop any of the current squad. Instead, we’ll just try and develop them and prepare them for next season.”

Kick-off at Park Avenue is 2.15pm

The Eastbourne seconds are also back in action tomorrow (Saturday)after a week long lay-off they will travel to Burgess Hill to resume their league campaign.
