It’s all change at Eastbourne Rugby Club as a new director of rugby is set to join them this summer.

Chairman Fraser Brooks has confirmed the club are in talks with a potential new director of rugby but cannot yet reveal the name of the person in question while they are still dotting the ‘i’s and crossing the ‘t’s.

“We are in negotiations with a high-pedigree individual, who’s been recommended by the RFU organisation.

“It will be someone to work alongside the coaches and assist, help and advise them on all things rugby.

“They’ll be helping right through from junior to senior level, and from here at the club to schools, colleges and universities before reporting back to the executive board.

“I think this shows the positive investment we’re willing to put into the club.”

While the club’s relegation has not been officially confirmed, they have already resigned themselves to their departure from the London and South East Division Three into Sussex One.

“It has been a really difficult season but we’re still immensely proud of every single player that has put on a shirt for us this season and given every inch to our cause.

“It will potentially be a very exciting summer, bringing in new players and having a massively intense summer camp.

“We hope to enjoy a quality rebuilding season in Sussex One and, inevitably, our aim is to return to the London leagues when we’re ready.”

Roger Stanley will also be leaving his role as first team coach after two years at the club.

Fraser Brook said, “Roger took the club to a solid mid-table finish last season and we’d like to thank him for all he’s done for us.”
