Plymouth duo extend stay

Borough boss Garry Wilson confirmed Plymouth loanees Ashley Barnes and Dan Smith will be extending their spell at Priory Lane.

Their initial loan spell was due to expire after tomorrow's Oxford United game but Wilson was delighted to announce he has secured their services for another month.

He said, "They will be with us for another month and we are very pleased with that. They have given us a few extra options up front and big Ashley got another well taken goal today (Lewes).

"We spoke to Plymouth and they are happy with the arrangement. The lads are enjoying their football with us and we hope it will be another successful month."

The attacking duo breathed fresh life into a Boro attack struggling to cope in the Blue Square Premier.

Barnes, 19, has been particularly impressive scoring four from his seven league appearances.

The all-action striker struck once again against Lewes on New Year's Day but also picked up his fifth booking.

Wilson added, "We have spoken to Ashley and Plymouth about his bookings and it is something he will work on.

"He is still a young player and is learning all the time. I think he has five bookings now which will see him miss a game."

Danny Brown, who skippered the side at Lewes, has signed on to the end of the season.
