Two Eastbourne darts players have earned the right to face off against some of the biggest names the sport has to offer.

Jim Withers and Dave Creasy will be the two qualifiers amongst six professional stars competing in The Untouchables event at the Winter Gardens tonight (Friday).

The pair will take on five-time World Champion, Raymond van Barneveld as well as seven-time major title winner, James Wade.

Vincent van der Voort, Dennis Priestley, Tony O’Shea and Terry Jenkins complete a star-studded line-up of PDC players, who boast countless tournament wins between them.

Jim and Dave both won their local qualifiers to gain this opportunity, and are not just going along for the ride, but looking to cause an upset.

Something that is not uncommon to Jim who beat Johnny Haines (currently 92nd in the PDC rankings) in the final of the Red Dragon Eastbourne Open earlier this year.

“I play professional players regularly and I’m always confident of beating them.” He said.

“I’m looking forward to playing some top players in this event and if I play like I can, I think I stand a good chance, whoever I’m drawn against.”

Dave also believes he could surprise one or two of the professionals on the night.

He said, “I’m looking forward to it and I’ll give it a good go. If I can hit my doubles like I did in qualifying then I’m in with a chance.”

But there is no denying who is the pre-tournament favourite is. James Wade is currently placed number three in the world rankings, and ‘The Machine’ will be looking to add to his growing list of honours.

With the home crowd behind them, anything could happen tonight, and managing to beat any of the professionals would be a proud moment for either Jim or Dave.

With all that said, there is only one thing left to say. Let’s play darts.

Tickets (from £25) for THE UNTOUCHABLES, Eastbourne Winter Garden, Fri 19 October are available by calling 08450 180 180.
