During a very windy, dour first half with Heath fighting the elements as much as the opposition, Heath managed to fluff three clear-cut try scoring opportunities but finally took advantage of their superior ball handling and forwards play against a committed Chichester defence to secure a single try. With some relief Heath went into half time ahead on the scoreboard and knowing the wind would be working more in their favour after the break.

Two tries came more easily for Heath in the second half, in which there was a more cohesive performance from the Heath forwards and the backs.

The fourth try and an all-important bonus point came in the dying minutes after 13 patient phases with Heath camped in the opposition 22, when Scott Day seized the opportunity to seal a vital bonus point win in style. Other Heath try scorers were Wilf Bridges, Huw Jenkins and Jack Lucas and the squad overcame five enforced changes to the original selection from Thursday night to beat an experienced and heavyweight XV from Chichester.

The injury list is growing but Heath’s commitment to the cause is standing strong. The match was followed by Scotland v England live on the big screen in the Clubhouse giving Heath and England supporters even more to cheer about.
