Leading Harrier Gary Judges made a welcome return to the roads with a brilliant run to be the first male vet home and second overall to Paolo Natali who won in 25m14s.

Sunny skies greeted competitors for the annual Hastings 5 mile Road Race which was organised by Hastings Runners and held on a fast flat out and back course from Hastings Town Hall.

This event saw more than 300 runners set off towards the seafront and on the promenade towards St Leonards on a traffic free route.

In the Ladies event Sam Alvarez also returned with a scintillating run to win the ladies vet class and second overall to the winner Silvia Del Fava in 28m50s.

Matt Dowle, 12th, and Paul Standen-Payne 34th gave superb support to Gary which saw the Harriers mens team finish an excellent second to Hastings AC. The ladies came in fourth with Louise Taylor and Fran Doe completing their scoring.

Positions and times were as follows: 2nd Gary Judges 27m56s, 12th Matt Dowle 29m57s, 25th(First Lady vet) Sam Alvarez 31m13s, 34th Paul Standen-Payne 31m47s, 55th Bill Fraser 33m50s, 83rd Louise Taylor 35m27s, 147th John Taylor 39m52s, 249th Fran Doe 49m03s, 264th Barbara Cordner 51m14s, 276th Susan Chewter 52m45s, 283rd Janet Perez 54m50s.
