Faye on top of the world

Eastbourne’s World Paratriathlon Champion Faye McClelland secured her third TRI-4 world title in emphatic style in New Zealand on Monday.

The success was another feather in the increasingly-decorated cap of the 32-year-old athlete, who only took up the sport in 2003 but has yet to be defeated across any competition.

Faye, who was born with a wrist but no fingers on her left hand, stormed to success in Auckland earlier this week against 109 competitors from 21 different countries - a record participation for that event.

She adds that third World Champion title to two European Champion titles, the most recent of which she won by an astonishing 12-minute margin.

Now the athlete, originally born in Middlesex but living in Eastbourne while she studies
