New signing Twine is one to watch

Eastbourne’s David Twine has been tipped to shine this season after making a fine debut against Horsham last week.

Twine, 19, took four wickets from his 12 overs against a strong Horsham line-up and followed that up with a brisk 26, including a four and a six, during the cup defeat to Preston Nomads on Sunday.

Twine arrived from Hellingly for the 2012 campaign and is keen to make a good impression in the Sussex Premier.

Tomsett said, “Full credit to Hellingly Cricket Club. David is a great young player and he was coached very well at Hellingly.

He came here as he wanted to play at a higher level. Full credit to Hellingly they were happy for him to come.

“He is a strong, fit lad who can bowl lengthy spells and come back for a second.

“He has great potential and I have put his name forward for the Sussex Development squad. He is certainly the type of player they should be looking at.”
