Yetton Trophy brings out the best in Cora’s team

There was a dramatic finish in the bowls for Eastbourne Ladies in the Yetton Trophy as they needed an extra-end to overcome Falaise Ladies.

The momentum swung one-way and then the other, but after two wins and and two defeats the final score read 81-all, meaning an extra end was needed. The honour fell to Cora White’s team, who won to take the team through.

Eastbourne Ladies are due to face Adur Ladies in the next round.

Sue Taylor lost to Lorraine Kuhler 21-11 after putting up a good fight in her Champion of Champions third round tie.

In the National Singles Pat Bain played Lorna Mole and secured a comfortable 21-7 win.

Eastbourne’s Men faced King Alfred IBC for the first time in the Denny Cup and emerged with an impressive victory, coming through 87-72. The quality of bowls remained high throughout despite a difficult green in the away tie. They will have to beat old adversaries Falaise IBC if they are to progress further in the competition.

An all-Eastbourne clash in the National Over-50’s competition saw Ray Novis, Adrian Wainwright and Bill Fuller take on Don Kent, Dave Booth and Peter Morgan.

Peter’s team led 11-7 after ten ends, but a strong finish by Bill Fuller’s trio saw them triumph 22-14.
