Eastbourne racer Kym Weaver overcame vehicle difficulties to qualify for the National Hot Rod World Final, which will be broadcast on Sky Sports next month.
Weaver finished in joint eighth place with Mark Paffey in the English Championship, which was enough to seal him a place in the World Final at Speedweekend on July, 7 and 8.
Weaver and his team had to work hard to keep the Vauxhall Tigra in the top ten after a clutch cable broke in heat one at Ipswich.
Then, a crash in heat two meant Weaver went from being third fastest in practice to 14th in the final.
The former European 2litre Hot Road Champion then raced at Northampton, where 7th, 11th and 12th placed finishes were just enough to seal eighth place in the overall Championship.
The local hot rod star will now go up against fellow European 2litre Champion Paffey head-to-head to see who can gain the quickest lap time for a fourth row start in the final at Foxhall Stadium in Ipswich.
Kym Weaver is also calling for companies or businesses to take the chance to be advertised on his Tigra. Anyone who’s interested should call Alan Walsh on 07902370749.
Eastbourne Property Shop and Hailsham Scaffolding are two of the most recent sponsors and they will be displayed on Weaver’s car in the upcoming world final.
