Heather Watson, Ana Ivanovic, Alexandr Dolgopolov and Fernando Verdasco are set to light up Centre Court at the Aegon International on Monday June 17.
British No.2 Watson faces world No.28 Varvara Lepchenko of the USA while former world No.1 Ana Ivanovic takes on Elena Vesnina in their first meeting since 2010.
Monday’s Centre Court action will also feature the titanic clash between world No.29 Alexandr Dolgopolov and No.59 Fernando Verdasco. The pair has met once previously in ATP World Tour competition, Verdasco running out the winner at Rome in 2012.
Devonshire Park gates open at 10am, play starts at 11am, tickets are available at the box office.
Please note: Full order of play and Centre Court match order TBC.
Sunday’s qualifying action saw British No.4 Tara Moore, lose to Karolina Pliskova in a deciding-set tie-break on Centre Court.
Moore eased past fellow Brit Anne Keothavong in her first round qualifying clash yesterday and put up a brave fight against seventh-seed qualifier Pliskova, losing in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (7-2).
After being out-played in a rain-interrupted first set, Moore stormed to a second-set victory, breaking Pliskova’s serve twice.
A tight third set ensued but Moore, ranked 194th in the world, continued to dig her heels in and saved two match points as the game headed to a deciding-set tie-break.
It was here that the 120-rank difference became evident as Pliskova stormed to a 7-2 tie-break win to potentially set up a third-round qualifying clash with her twin sister Kristyna.
Moore’s exit leaves British hopes pinning on Laura Robson, Heather Watson, Elena Baltacha and Johanna Konta in the main women’s draw, and Kyle Edmund and James Ward in the main men’s draw, both of which start tomorrow (Monday).
