Eastbourne Hockey Under 10s boys were in action again in the Ron Easton tournament at Eastbourne College last Sunday and walked away very happy with silver medals - missing out on top spot by just one point.
Oliver Anderson made his debut appearance in goal and made some terrific reactive saves.
Eastbourne faced East Grinstead in their first game and although playing well with plenty of scoring opportunities lost 1-0.
Oliver May, another debutant, opened the scoring as they comfortably beat Brighton & Hove 3-0, the other goals from Charley Tucknott and Scott Gilbert-King.
They went on to beat Lewes 2-0 (goals Guy Moore and Charley Tucknott), Mid-Sussex 1-0 (Scott Gilbert-King) and Hailsham 1-0 (Josh Ansell). Oscar Hookway and Dale Upton provided solid performances for the side and helped keep the opposition at bay.
The final game against Horsham required a win to take top spot but despite constant attacking pressure and great defensive play by Finn Hine, the boys were unable to get the result as they narrowly lost 2-1 despite another amazing solo goal by Charley Tucknott.
Squad: Oliver Anderson, Finn Hine, Oscar Hookway, Josh Ansell, Scott Gilbert-King, Dale Upton, Charley Tucknott, Guy Moore and Oliver May.
