DUE to essential maintenance to the greens the main Club Medal at Eastbourne Park Golf Club was declared a non-qualifier.
Despite the difficulty of putting on the greens some good scores were returned. The winner was Alan Dyer with Mike Reilly second.
Nearest the Pins: 2nd James Bussell; 6th Nasser Naghaban; 9th Steve Gilder.
It was a similar story for the Seniors April Medal which was also declared a non-qualifier.
Despite this, or, perhaps, because of, some very good scores were returned.
Geoff Hart (22) returned a gross 80, net 58, to win on count-back from Frew Hillhouse (24). Dave Lewry (27) had an outstanding round and finished third with a net 59.

In the Ladies Monthly Medal Sarah Quinn shot a startling net 55 to win and earn a six-shot reduction to her handicap.
Sue Bell was second with a net 60 and the rest of the scores were: Rachel Mackriell 63, Rita Kerley 70, Sandra Pearson 70, Margaret McBain 71, Jill Green 71, Di Morris 72, Viv Osbourne 74, Jan Wright 75, Jo McMillan 76, Chris Goacher 80 and Pat Seavers.
In the Terry Thow Trophy, with the greens still recovering from the maintenance, some of the seniors still had problems with the ‘Flat Stick’. Steve Lynch found the hole more often and won with 40 points, Grant Jones, back on 37 points, was second
Terry Thow was a popular stalwart of the section and this competition is played in his memory.
Longest drive, on the 8th, was George Schneider, with a mighty drive down the fairway.

The lads enjoyed a buffet afterwards, supplied by new caterer, Sharon, able assisted by Carol and Irene.
