The Royal Eastbourne Golf Club have reached the quarter-finals of the Sussex County Golf Union’s Exclusive Trophy

The Royal team will now face Haywards Heath tomorrow (Saturday), with tee off time set for 11am.

The format consists of four pairs, each contributing a Category 2 player paired with a Category 3 player, played as a foubrll better ball off handicaps, but with every game continuing until the 18th green regardless of the score.

Teams and pairings for the Royal are Frank Horner & Chris Ayling, Mickey Wishart and David Blackburn, John Chamerlen & Wes Game, and Marytin Hughes & David Morris.

SCGU Competition: The qulifiers who will represent the club in the SCGU Centenary Jug on Friday, October 4 at the Royal are as follows.

Category 1/2 qualifier, Greg Duvall (shot 67 net); Category 3/4 qualifier, Wes Game (shot 68 net).

Ladies results: The Claude Bishop Salver (handicaps 0-28) was won by Jan Smith (20) with a net 70. Angela Corke (11) was second with 72 and Carolynn Maylen (17) was third with 75.

The Hopwood Salver (handicaps 29-36) was won by Annie Grama (31) with 75 and Angela Bain (35) was second with 76.

Longest Day Dellaney Medal Competition: Winners: Mike Wooller, Jenny Bruce, Mike & Su Rayner , 59.2 net; second Frank and Judy Hurner, Derek Lodge, Dorothy McDonald, 61.8 net; and third Rob and Angela Bain, Alistair and Sue Wadsworth, 61.9 net.
