The Royal Eastbourne Golf Club advanced to the second round of the Daily Mail Foursomes with a 4-1 win against East Brighton.In Barry Illsey’s absence skipper Rob Bain was the first man out and came home two-up for the perfect start.

Jake Holden, still a junior, had a comfortable 4&3 win and John Chamberlen did even better with 6&5 to give the home side an unassailable three-up lead.

Alex Piper, who had an amazing 2012, lost on the on the 15th while Royal ‘anchor man’ Nick Ward, put the final nail in the visitors’ coffin with a 5&3 victory.
