Rose and Rob end 2012 in style

Rose Rainton and Rob Warner were unbeaten as Eastbourne Borough A beat Eastbourne Borough B by 7-3.

The duo met Andy Summers and Brian Busbridge in the doubles later on and, after losing the first two games, bounced back to win thanks to two deuces and a runaway fourth game 11/9, 11/9, 10/12, 3/11, 10/12.

Willingdon B recorded a whitewash victory over Polegate B to see them top the table heading into 2013.

In a one-sided match Alan Hooker only conceded one game to Ivor Ainsworth, while only one of Martyn Hooker’s matches went higher than 11/6.

In Division 2/3, Eastbourne Borough D beat Cavendish A 8/2, Willingdon Stoolball triumphed over Eastbourne Boro’ E and Colin Allcorn and Sue Paice recorded maximums in Ministries A’s victory over Polegate A. Hailsham B lost to Bishopstone B by 8/2.

Winson Cheung’s maximum helped Cavendish Division Five Juniors to a terrific match victory over St Michaels’ Division Four team 7/3.

Dave Axell and Melvin Meltz worked hard to notch their maximums as Hailsham C fended off Polegate D. Bishopstone C edged victory over Ministries B 6/4.

Cavendish D and St Michaels B played out an exciting contest with Glen Tailford completing his maximum despite losing heavily in the first game.

Polegate E recorded a whitewash win over Ministries D to keep up their challenge on the top spot.
