British number four Laura Robson breezed to a straight sets victory over fellow Brit Danieka Borthwick in the first round of qualifying this morning.
Robson’s 6-2 6-2 win on court one took less than an hour and means she will now face British number two Elena Baltacha later this afternoon for a place in the main draw.
Borthwick, who is ranked number 9999 in the world, managed to break Robson’s serve once in the course of the game, but the world number 114 proved too strong as she cruised to the win in just 56 minutes.
Baltacha awaits Australian-born Robson after she beat Kai-Chen Chang in the first round of qualifying yesterday.
The winner of the all-Brit tie, last on today’s court one schedule, will play in the main women’s singles draw, which starts tomorrow.
